Along the banks of the river are mangroves where one can easily sight Common Kingfisher, Small Egrets, Large Egrets, Pond Heron, Daters, Magpie Robin to name the few of many species found here. The best time for birding is early in the morning and evenings. Birding can be done either by walking along the river bank or a boating. Mollem Nationa Park and Shri Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary This is a very good to sight Guar or India Bison, the Giant Squirrels and many more animals and a vast variety of birds. Once inside the forest it is difficult to believe that the Arabian Sea is very near this place. Jeeps safaris can be arranged into the forests and the best time to visit is the morning and evenings. Aprt from Bisons, Giant Squirrels, there are predators like leopards also, though sighting them is difficult in the dense forest, but one might be luck with the spotted one. Dudhsagar Waterfalls A very beautiful this waterfalls in among the highest waterfalls in India. A South Central Railway line crosses this water falls. About Beaches Colva Beach It is one of the most popular beaches in Goa, stretching 20 km along the coast. The beach itself is magnificent with beautiful white sand. Colva beach is the pride of Salcete. Like Calancute one can do a and the only rival to Calangute by its scenic spendour. Here, sand, sea and sky blend in enchanting natural harmony unspoilt by men. Has good accommodation facilities, particularly at the tourist cottages. Dona Paula 7 kms from Panaji, it is an idyllic picturesque spot, commanding a fine view of the Zuari river and Mormugao Harbour. Water scootering facilities are available here. It is a small palm fringed beach with casuarina groves and is very peacefull. It is named after a Viceroy's daughter who reportedly jumped from the cliffs when refused permission to marry a fisherman. Miramar (Gaspar Dias) 3 kms from Panaji. This beach is at the mouth of the Mandovi. Ships achored at the Vasco Port can be seen the horizon. A lovely golden beach of soft sand girdled with palm trees facing the blue Arabian Sea. In Anjuna there is magnificent Albuquerque mansion built in 1920, flanked by octagonal towers and attractive Mangalore tiled-roof. Vagator Beach Vagator can best describe to be the spirit of Goa.. This beach is one of the most beautiful of the soft sand beaches that Goa is famous for.Whanever you see a picture of a beach typically dotted with plam trees and sea green water with people in water clothes and having fun in water,you will see all this and much more in the Vagator beach. Arambol Beach It is locally called 'Hippie beach' is the northern most beach with a deserted wide stretch of white sand. The Goan government is planning to develop it into a major tourist spot. Mandrim Beach Lying in the North Goa this is a turtle nesting site. Turtle come to the beach in the month of May every year to lay eggs and then return to the deep sea.
